JAMES STOCKS: COOKING IN THE ORANGERY
The cooking of James Stocks has been described as ‘Firstly totally focussed on extraction of flavour, visionary in conception and execution, classical style but done in a modern and cutting-edge way’.
The Chef himself says: ‘Dishes which will certainly be exciting for diners to experience, rest assured I have taken the best of every restaurant I have ever worked in, and incorporated it into my own style. Balbirnie House is on the doorstep of the finest natural larder in the land, and I’m looking to make that aspect in particular really shine seasonally, as well as maintaining superb value for money.’

During your stay at Balbirnie, you will be accommodated in one of our 30 individually designed bedrooms, each quite unique in style and character. For a special stay, you may wish to enjoy one of our deluxe rooms or suites, many of which have enormous rooms with large comfortable beds and magnificent views over the gardens. Our classic rooms can provide double, twin or single occupancy, with each room differing in size, aspect and design, but all with the same amenities.
Facilities:
The £5M Balbirnie spa has now been granted official planning permission. 17 August 2007, this lovely new addition to the rear of the existing house in the parkland is confirmed, development commences early 2008, opens late Spring 2009. In the meantime, business as usual!

- a drive to the cobbled village of Culross to experience how life in Scotland would have been centuries ago (and Culross palace)
